Background: What started out as two neightbors learning some Christmas carols and traditional tunes from the British Isles to play for nursring home residents gave birth to something more. A last-minute appearance at an open mic event launched this trio of Bedford County women into an unexpected flurry of performances at coffehouses, festivals, private parties and weddings. Even now, periodic charitable performances at area nursing homes, schools, libraries, churches, civic events and the like still are included in their performance schedule. The musicians consider their formation and success to be on big series of miracles.
Riddle On The Harp’s instruments include guitar, Irish and silver flutes, hammered dulcimer, bowed psaltery, recorder, pennywhistle, celtic harp, bodhran, madoline, violin, and whatever else the musicians can manage. Riddle’s diverse repertoire includes traditional celtic tunes and jigs, international folk genres, origianl compositions, hyms, colonial and Civil War era songs, and children’s lullabies. The group’s mixture of instrumental pieces and vocal arrangements will likely make you laugh, cry, tap your toes and, above all, relax and have some fun. www.RiddleOnTheHarp.com
