Friends of the BCO

“Music produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without.” – Confucius

artwork_360The Friends of the BCO is a major support arm of the orchestra. With over 300 members, the       Friends help the orchestra through their financial gifts, by attending concerts and through their many volunteer activities. Over 10% of our Friends volunteer – some host in our concert lobby, work as ushers, distribute flyers, host special events, make phone calls, write articles, assist in mailings, print programs, help with grant writing, and contribute many other administrative activities and technical skills.

There can be more to being a Friend than receiving our Newsletter. Become a proactive supporter of the performing arts by helping take financial responsibility. Orchestra “Friends” organizations are the primary groups that commit to raising funds for their orchestra. Orchestras are one of the leading volunteer organizations in the United States; join thousands of other volunteers nationwide and help ensure your community orchestra’s financial health.

It’s free to become a Friend. Join and you’ll receive our newsletter, updating you on upcoming events and concerts. Make sure you provide your email address; we will send you email announcements of special orchestra events and meetings. To join, contact the BCO at, or call Emily Masters, orchestra manager, at 540.947.0208.
